Tips for Back to School

The weather outside may still be warm, but summer is drawing to a close. Soon, your little ones will be packing their pencils, rulers and lunchboxes and heading off to school.

How can parents prepare for this busy season? Here are some back to school tips:

Ease into your routine

Picture this: your kids have been sleeping in all summer and taking their time to get ready before heading to the pool for a day of fun. Then, all of a sudden, they have to wake up early and rush to catch the school bus. This abrupt change in routine causes stress for kids and parents alike, so why not ease into the school year by practicing your routine? A few days before school, have your kids start going to bed and getting up at the same times they will during the school year.

Be prepared

If your child will be attending a new school, arrange to tour it in advance. Also, make sure to set a time to meet individually with your child’s teacher.

Make room for homework

Set up a dedicated space in your home that is comfortable and free of distractions where your child can do homework. Encourage him or her to get into a healthy homework routine and get started right after school.
