How to Celebrate National Craft Month With Your Children

March 8th, 2018 watchmegrowdaycarecenter

Here at Watch Me Grow Daycare Center, we know how important spending time with your children can be. But sometimes, planning activities that are both fun and educational isn’t always easy. Thankfully, it’s March, and you know what that means—it’s National Craft Month!

Here are some fun ways to celebrate with your children:

Tin Can Wind Chime

Open up the kitchen cabinets for this one. Any empty tin can be beautifully remade with some paint, tape, and string. Hang the colorful tins from a hanger, or a mobile, and you have yourself a new item for the backyard, or your child’s room. And better yet, it was made by the both of you!

Paper Plate Masks

This one is even easier. All you need is paper plates, crayons or markers, some colored construction paper, and scissors. Create a playful mask out of the plate and once you’re done, you and your child can put on a play in the living room, or act out scenes from their favorite movie. It’s like your own movie prop!

Sharpie Heart Mugs

Any ordinary mug can be redesigned or made into a personalized gift with just a few markers, and imagination. Set out to liven up your mug collection with your children this month!

Painted Coffee Filters

Did you know that your coffee filters not only help you get up in the morning, but are also the perfect canvas for paint? Paint your filter today and make it into something beautiful with your children, like this coffee filter butterfly!

Arts and crafts are not only a great way to spend time with your child but they also help develop bilateral and fine motor skills, boost self-esteem, and help the child bond and have fun with their parent.  There are numerous other developmental benefits which is why art is a daily component of Watch Me Grow’s curriculum. Give us a call today at 716-656-8050 or stop in for a visit, we would be happy to give you a tour and answer all of your questions.
