Have you decided to enroll your child in daycare? The transition will take some time for you and your child to get used to, but the benefits your little one will receive from daycare are endless, so rest assured.

Here are some suggestions to help both of you adjust to this new milestone:The transition will take some time for you and your child to get used to, but the benefits your little one will receive from daycare are endless, so rest assured.

Familiarize your child

After selecting a daycare center, you’ll want to help your child get to know his or her new teachers or nursery staff. The more familiar your child is with their new environment, the happier they will feel when it comes time to say goodbye to you.

Practice being away from your child

If you’ve never left your child with anyone before, it will help if you have your parents or grandparents watch your child a few weeks in advance so your child gets used to the idea of being away from you.

Set up playdates prior to starting daycare

Once your child is in daycare, they will be around children for the majority of the time. If you think your child will feel overwhelmed, perhaps schedule a few playdates with children their age so you can introduce activity-based play and interaction.

Go over the schedule with your child

Try to prepare your child for what he or she will experience at daycare. Be as detailed as possible and explain over and over again so they start to understand and retain the new information.

Last but not least, trust your daycare providers! If you are confident about the daycare and the caregivers, your child will also be confident. Are you looking for a daycare for your child?
